Overview

The Certified Welder position in Charleston, SC involves performing basic welding and steel fabrication tasks for structural steel components in construction projects. The role requires reading shop drawings and adhering to specified tolerances and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and use prints and sketches for layout and welding techniques.
  • Perform general material handling functions including jobsite clean-up and moving materials.
  • Operate motorized equipment such as welding tools, air arcing, bolting, grinding, and cutting torches.
  • Follow company safety rules and properly use assigned personal protective equipment.

Requirements

  • Certified Welder with proven ability to complete structural and equipment welding.
  • Knowledge of interpreting prints and sketches for structural steel fabrication.
  • Pass AWS Welding Test on a one-inch groove test in the horizontal position.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently walk, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb.
  • Experience with heavy flux core wire feed welding.
  • TWIC card preferred but not required; ability to obtain one is required.
