Job Description

Overview

Atkore is seeking an experienced Slitter Tech for their facility in Harvey, IL. The role involves setting up and operating slitting machines, ensuring quality and efficiency in the production process.

Responsibilities

  • Move stock to and from the slitters.
  • Load the tube mills.
  • Operate cutting torches.
  • Set up and operate slitter to produce slit coils to specifications.
  • Check master coils for correct gauge and record any visual defect.
  • Continuously observe slitting and rewinding operation to shut off quickly, if necessary.
  • Fill out necessary tags, production and other reports accurately.
  • Load/unload master coil and slit coils from slitter.
  • Notify supervisor when knives need sharpening.
  • Perform minor maintenance repairs and assist Maintenance Department in major repairs when needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, slitting steel.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.
  • Strong sense of time organization and sense of urgency.
  • Ability to pass the post offer employment process with drug screen.

  • Position is for 2nd shift.
  • Located approximately 30 miles south of Downtown Chicago.
