Job Description

Overview

Atkore is seeking a Mill Assistant for the 2nd shift in Harvey, IL. The role involves loading slit coils, maintaining the zinc pot, and assisting in various manufacturing tasks under the supervision of the Manufacturing Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in locating master coils on coil racks.
  • Cut bands on master coil and slit coils when needed.
  • Remove slit coil from master coil with jib/gantry crane.
  • Position slit coil on payoff reel and adjust arbor to ID of coil.
  • Feed strip to welder and assist welder when needed.
  • Keep zinc pots full of zinc.
  • Keep zinc pot and area around zinc pot clean, including drossing when needed.
  • Re-band coils on payoff reel or master coil when removing from mill area.
  • Wire brush rusty steel prior to welding.
  • Assist on mill changeovers per supervisor's instructions.
  • Help clear out fold ups.

Requirements

  • Experience in industrial manufacturing.
  • Strong sense of time organization and sense of urgency, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Operation of a handheld scanner and utilization of a variety of printed work instructions as part of daily work assignment.
  • RF Scanning knowledge.
  • Ability to pass the post offer employment process with drug screen.
