Overview

Aecon is seeking a skilled Welder to join their team in Houston, Texas, to perform a variety of welding and cutting operations in accordance with blueprints and safety standards. Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate arc welding machines to join metal components per specifications.
  • Weld flat, cylindrical, or irregular parts in various positions: flat, vertical, horizontal, or overhead.
  • Visually inspect welds for quality and conformance to standards.
  • Prepare metal surfaces for welding using grinders, brushes, or chemical baths.
  • Perform interpass grinding and penetrant testing.
  • Preheat workpieces using a hand torch or heating furnace.
  • Remove slag, flux, and spatter from welds.
  • Lay out, fit, and tack-weld components using jigs, clamps, and fixtures.
  • Use manual, submerged arc, and gas-shielded arc welding techniques.
  • Operate oxy-fuel and arc-cutting equipment for cutting, trimming, or beveling metal.
  • Set up equipment and select torch tips, filler wire, electrodes, and gas mixtures.
  • Follow diagrams and layouts to determine welding and cutting paths.
  • Ensure safety compliance by using all required PPE including respirators when necessary.
  • Work in confined spaces, at heights exceeding 50 feet, and in varied outdoor weather conditions.
  • Move and position compressed gas cylinders, welding cables, and leads as needed.

  • Strong understanding of welding techniques and safety standards.
  • Experience in industrial or fabrication environments.
