Overview

Orion is seeking a Construction Laborer to support field construction operations on marine and heavy civil projects. The role involves providing hands-on support for the construction of various infrastructure projects while prioritizing safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to skilled craft workers at marine project locations.
  • Assist Welders, Pipefitters/Carpenters, and other skilled workers in their duties.
  • Work as assigned by the Barge Foreman to complete marine construction projects.
  • Move work pieces, tools, and supplies manually or by hand truck.
  • Lift, move, hold, or clamp work pieces as directed.
  • Clean work pieces to remove impurities.
  • Connect hoses and cables for welding tasks.
  • Start gasoline engines for electric generators.
  • Remove tags and move finished work.
  • Attach grappling equipment for crane movement.
  • Bolt, nail, align, and block up under forms.
  • Signal operators of construction equipment.
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications.
  • Mix concrete using a portable mixer.
  • Smooth and finish freshly poured cement or concrete.
  • Position joints and align pipe sections.
  • Erect scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
  • Perform various tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one year construction or craft worker helper field experience.
  • Previous experience in Welding, Pipefitting, Piledriving, or Carpentry is desirable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific directions.
  • Ability to work without close supervision.
  • Ability to complete any required safety or job training.
