Overview

The Fireman/Mechanic position at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center involves maintaining, operating, and repairing Boiler Room equipment in a safe manner. Responsibilities

  • Maintain, operate, and repair all Boiler Room equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and keep logs on all Boiler Room equipment.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and safe condition.
  • May electronically input data into handheld devices.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness for Supervision of Fuel Oil Transfers in building P-98 within the probation period.
  • New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness to Operate and Maintain Air Compressors A-35.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in high pressure Boiler Room operation and maintaining equipment, or equivalent education consisting of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • This is a full-time rotating shifts position, Tuesday - Thursday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Friday and Saturday 4:00 pm to 12:00 am.
  • All roles require on-site presence.
  • Employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.
  • NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses.
