The Shop Welder Technician 2 (Line Bore) position at the Machine Division (MAC) involves performing intermediate welding repairs and fabrication in a shop environment, utilizing various welding procedures and tools. The role requires collaboration, adherence to safety standards, and ongoing self-development.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intermediate repairs/fabrication and welding on heavy equipment with minimal oversight.
  • Demonstrate skills with cutting/track torch, air arc gouging, and various layout/fit up tools.
  • Maintain company equipment, tools, and work areas in good condition.
  • Ensure welding work complies with specific codes, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Learn to perform basic line boring jobs and remove/install heavy equipment components.
  • Prepare technical inspection/service reports and documents accurately.
  • Participate in ongoing self-development and training.
  • Work safely while adhering to company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; specialized/technical training preferred.
  • At least two years of experience required, three or more preferred.
  • Welding certification in FCAW 1" T-1 material (3G and 4G) and GTAW 3/8" mild steel.
  • Ability to complete most welding repairs on mild and hard steel utilizing FCAW process.
  • General knowledge of equipment and dimensional tools, including their designs and uses.
  • Good work habits, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Developing technical skills to become a qualified welder and fabricator.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools.

Additional Information

  • Minimal travel, no more than 5%.
  • Regularly works outdoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes.
