Overview

The Field Service Technician at Plug Power will support fuel cell products in electric lift trucks, focusing on preventative maintenance and breakdown resolution. This role requires strong technical and communication skills due to interaction with customers and lift truck operators.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and service fuel cells at customer sites.
• Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations to maintain the fleet.
• Execute specialized service procedures, including retrofits and upgrades.
• Provide emergency support service to customers as required.
• Purchase tools, equipment, and parts for customer service.
• Troubleshoot and maintain high-pressure hydrogen storage and fueling systems.
• Maintain communication with customer personnel and hydrogen suppliers.
• Provide feedback to regional service representatives on fuel cell performance.
• Complete administrative duties including reports and service logs.
• Enforce safety procedures in the field.
• Travel as required for business needs.
• Represent Plug Power professionally in all interactions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework.
• Three or more years of direct experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
• Valid driver license and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
• Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications is preferred.
• General mechanical aptitude is required.
• Computer skills including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
• Dynamic interpersonal skills for effective communication.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Creativity in solving technical problems.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Technician must provide own standard set of tools.
