Overview

The Level II Technician performs all aspects of MHE planned and unplanned maintenance service on LP or electric equipment, requiring expertise in one of the two types. The role demands knowledge of mechanics, hand tools, and basic automotive experience, along with good communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for forklift (LP and electrical) Preventative Maintenance services.
  • Perform fluid changes including engine oil, transmission fluid, differential gear lube, and hydraulic fluid.
  • Replace filters such as air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, and ATF filter.
  • Perform tune-ups by adjusting valves and replacing spark plugs and spark plug wires.
  • Make brake and riser adjustments.
  • Inspect and repack wheel bearings.
  • Inspect and water forklift batteries on a defined schedule.
  • Remove, repair, and install batteries.
  • Perform equipment paint touch-ups as required.
  • Rotate attachment pads.
  • Replace parts as necessary, including horns, lights, and tires.
  • Conduct basic overheating troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Perform steering troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Complete a minimum of 30 PM Services per month.
  • Maintain a productivity level of 80-90%.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience with troubleshooting skills in electric or LP equipment.
  • Experience in basic repairs of electric or LP equipment.
  • Experience in attachment repairs.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, LP, hydraulic systems, and DVOM.
  • Ability to read wiring schematics.
  • Must be able to read and follow service manual instructions.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Must provide own hand tools.
  • Computer applications experience using MS Office.
  • Post high school or technical school education is desirable.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to lift and/or pull 75 lbs or more without restriction.
  • Ability to work outside in inclement weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in an environment with excessive noise and respiratory hazards without restriction.
  • Must be able to stand or lie down for extended periods to repair equipment.
  • Must have flexible movement to reach equipment and maneuver.
  • Willingness to travel at various times.
