Overview

As a Mobile Technician II at J.B. Hunt, you will perform intermediate service and repair of tractors, trailers, and other equipment at customer sites or rail yards using a mobile service truck. This role requires a combination of technical skills and the ability to work outdoors under routine supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intermediate-level preventive maintenance and repairs on tractor or trailer equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair ABS systems.
  • Operate the mobile service truck and manage truck inventory.
  • Assist with onboarding and mentoring tractor technician trainees.
  • Follow all safety requirements while onsite and at customer locations.
  • Complete work orders and documentation according to established procedures.
  • Document damage to company equipment to estimate repair costs.
  • Use cutting torch and welding equipment for mid-level repairs.
  • Patch holes in trailer or container side panels and roofs.
  • Perform annual AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections under supervision.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years old for equipment over 10,000 lbs.
  • 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Possess a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines.
  • Able to supply basic tools or purchase through the toolbox program.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and weekends if needed.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes preferred.
  • Welding certification preferred.
  • Forklift certification and experience preferred.
  • EPA section 608 certification and refrigeration license preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite preferred.
  • Ability to lift/move appliances up to 50 pounds.
