Overview

IMI Industrial Services Group is a full service industrial contractor specializing in structural fabrication. They are seeking a full-time Welder / Fabricator in the Athens, GA area to join their team.

Responsibilities

  • Align and fit parts according to specifications using various tools.
  • Hammer, chip, and grind workpieces to cut, bend, and straighten metal.
  • Layout and examine metal stock to ensure specifications are met.
  • Locate and mark workpieces for bending and cutting lines.
  • Mark reference points onto floors or face blocks and transpose them to workpieces.
  • Move parts into position manually or using hoists and cranes.
  • Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits.
  • Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, and bolt parts for welding.
  • Straighten warped or bent parts using various tools.
  • Set up and operate fabricating machines to form and assemble metal components.
  • Setup face blocks, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Smooth workpiece edges and fix taps, tubes, and valves.
  • Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements.
  • Tack-weld fitted parts together.
  • Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years' experience in welding or fabrication.
  • NCCER certification or completion of a related program through an accredited technical school.
  • Ability to tig weld for stainless steel.

  • Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, twist, and bend for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance.
