Overview

The Nuclear Company is a rapidly growing startup in the nuclear and energy sector, focused on building next-generation nuclear reactors. The Turbine Diaphragm Welder will be responsible for the repair and fabrication of steam turbine diaphragms and related components, requiring specialized welding expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Perform TIG (GTAW) and other welding processes on steam turbine diaphragms.
  • Fabricate and repair diaphragm components using various alloy materials.
  • Assess and repair damage modes including foreign object damage and structural weld failure.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment.
  • Perform pre- and post-weld heat treatment as required.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections and quality checks.
  • Collaborate with engineers and quality personnel to plan repair sequences.
  • Document work completed including weld records and quality inspection reports.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Assist with other turbine component repairs as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in precision or industrial welding.
  • Proficiency in TIG (GTAW) welding on stainless steel and alloy materials.
  • Experience reading and working from engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of steam turbine diaphragm construction styles.
  • Familiarity with weld inspection methods.
  • Ability to use precision measurement tools.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a welding program preferred.

  • This is an onsite role based at the Lark facility in Mount Holly, North Carolina.
  • This is not a travel-based position.
