Overview

Austin Industrial is an industry leader in self-perform maintenance, construction, and soft craft service for industrial companies across the U.S. The Boilermaker role involves constructing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing stationary steam boilers and boiler house auxiliaries.

Responsibilities

• Examine boilers and pressure vessels to locate defects for repair.
• Bolt or arc weld pressure vessel structures and parts together.
• Inspect assembled vessels or components to locate defects.
• Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts using various tools.
• Attach rigging and signal crane operators to lift heavy sections.
• Weld pressure vessel tube ends to ensure leakproof joints.
• Lay out and mark bending and cutting lines on heavy metal.
• Install components in drums of water tube boilers using hand tools.
• Study blueprints to determine locations and dimensions of parts.
• Straighten or reshape bent pressure vessel plates or parts.
• Shape seams and joints of pressure vessel sections for fit.
• Align and secure structural parts to boiler frames following blueprints.
• Mark reference points for columns or plates on boiler foundations.
• Fabricate parts to adapt pressure vessels using heavy machinery.
• Clean pressure vessel equipment using scrapers and solvents.
• Install refractory bricks in fireboxes of pressure vessels.
• Assemble large vessels in an on-site fabrication shop.

Requirements

• No minimum education requirements.
• 4 years of Journeyman-level experience.
• NCCER certification.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• TWIC Card.

Additional Information

• Employees must be able to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Work may be performed in industrial environments with exposure to various hazards.
