Greif is a global leader in performance packaging, dedicated to delivering innovative and tailored solutions for various industries. The Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Technician role involves applying industrial electronics and mechanical principles to maintain and troubleshoot equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of industrial electronics and mechanical principles to determine equipment malfunctions and restore operation.
  • Perform PLC, control circuit, and variable speed AC drive analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Assemble, test, and install electrical control panels based on schematic diagrams.
  • Install wiring and devices for conformance to company specifications or local electrical codes.
  • Assemble automation equipment according to engineering instructions and technical manuals.
  • Recommend changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify maintenance.
  • Check functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate performance under actual operating conditions.
  • Update electrical schematics to as built using CAD software.
  • Interface electrical control systems with pneumatic and mechanical systems.
  • Work closely with the Plant Engineering Department to resolve electrical problems.
  • May operate bench lathes, drills, or other machine tools to fabricate parts.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure machines run smoothly.
  • Document all repairs and adjustments via maintenance work order system.
  • Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, and replace filters.
  • Utilize common hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, and electrical testing devices.
  • Assemble, install or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems, and machinery.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine corrective actions using blueprints and manuals.
  • Plan and lay out repair work using diagrams and maintenance manuals.
  • Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Align and balance new equipment after installation.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Set-up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts.
  • Paint and repair roofs, windows, doors, and other parts of building structures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and 5 years of experience in the electrical/industrial electronics field.
  • Additional mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic knowledge required.
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Robotics experience highly desired.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.
  • Ability to make precise coordinated movements to grasp and manipulate small parts.
  • Ability to bend, crouch, and move around the plant for up to 10 hours per day.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work on overhead structures.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of personnel and communicate effectively.
  • Above average computer proficiency is necessary.
  • Computer Aided Design (CAD) and PLC troubleshooting skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including weekends and on-call hours.
