Overview

The Welder position involves performing skilled welding and metal fabrication work for various projects, collaborating with supervisors and other trades to maintain District facilities and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Construct or make welding repairs to metal equipment such as fences, handrails, gates, and playground equipment.
  • Assemble and repair playground structures.
  • Weld automobiles, trucks, and trailers.
  • Perform miscellaneous welding work as required.
  • Fabricate metal parts and equipment to protect valves, controls, and lights from vandalism.
  • Use various welding equipment and hand tools.
  • Work from blueprints, sketches, and oral directions.
  • Prepare and estimate labor and material requirements.
  • Operate District vehicle to travel to job sites.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years of welding experience.
  • Ability to obtain a State of Arizona Identity Verified (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License with clean driving record.
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, and procedures used in various welding techniques.
  • Skill in the use of MIG welding, ARC welding, TIG, and Plasma ARC equipment.
  • Skill in both verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the trade.

What you'll be running
