Overview

This job listing is exclusively for students of Tulsa Welding School in Houston, TX to complete prior to an on-campus visit. The position involves assembling products using welding and flame-cutting equipment at XL Specialized Trailers.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares work by studying assembly instructions, blueprints, specifications, and parts lists.
  • Positions parts and subassemblies using templates or measurements.
  • Assembles components by examining connections for fit and fastening with welding equipment.
  • Corrects welds by chipping or grinding off excess weld, slag, or splatter.
  • Moves components by operating an overhead crane safely.
  • Verifies specifications by measuring completed components and conducting self-inspection.
  • Resolves assembly problems by altering dimensions and notifying supervisors for additional resources.
  • Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance and following procedures.
  • Documents actions by completing production, quality, and time forms.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures and wearing proper PPE.
  • Identifies and anticipates safety and health concerns by surveying conditions.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year welding experience.
  • Proven ability to weld using MIG hand-held welder.
  • Basic understanding of Shop Math.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications.
  • Ability to work overtime as required, including Saturdays.
