Overview

The Bench Welder/Fabricator at Hussey Seating Company constructs standard and customized telescopic seating components using MIG welding on sheet metal. The role involves collaboration with a team to ensure quality and efficiency in production while adhering to safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Organize production schedule and adhere to product acceptability requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and inventory counts.
  • Read and interpret engineered drawings and welding symbols.
  • Design and fabricate temporary welding fixtures for custom work.
  • Utilize basic measuring tools such as tape measure, squares, and protractors.
  • Participate in Daily Communication Meetings reviewing safety, quality, delivery, and improvement actions.
  • Ensure production schedule follow through as allocated.
  • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of welding equipment and work area.
  • Support the establishment of work center standards for process improvement.
  • Perform First Piece Part Quality checks and facilitate work-order paper flow.
  • Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures and ongoing Lean continuous improvement activities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 10 years of Welding/Fabrication operational knowledge and experience applying MIG.
  • Strong understanding of operating basic metal shop equipment and tools.
  • Ability to read part and assembly drawings and perform quality checks.
  • Highly motivated self-starter and team player.
  • Strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills.

Additional Information

  • Work schedule is Monday through Thursday, 5:00am to 3:30pm.
  • Overtime available during high product demand times.
  • Work environment ranges from 55 to 90 degrees.
