Overview

Speedway Motors is looking for a welder to join their team, focusing on high-quality MIG and TIG welding in a state-of-the-art machining facility. The company values teamwork, positivity, and employee well-being while manufacturing parts for high-performance automotive innovations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform smooth high quality MIG and TIG welding with working knowledge of weld setup parameters for various types of materials.
  • Use metal fabrication equipment to fabricate parts needed for welding jobs.
  • Use multiple machines to cut material to draw specifications, programming, and maintenance and repairs when needed.
  • Use custom and precision measuring instruments to measure dimensions and ensure accuracy of fabricated parts.
  • Read blueprints including welding symbols.
  • Finish grinding required using manual power tools to smooth weld surfaces.
  • Use appropriate PPE and follow established safety regulations and procedures.
  • Use tools and equipment to manipulate materials including tube benders, drills, presses, grinders, etc.
  • Constantly work to improve processes and optimize team member workflow.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in technology or welding preferred with a minimum of 1 year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be knowledgeable in welding symbols and able to read technical manuals and blueprints.
  • Knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in machine shop/welding operations.
  • Knowledgeable of wire and filler material applications for mild steel alloys, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • All-encompassing machine shop skills and experience preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills required.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
