Overview

The Welder 2 position at Greenbrier involves performing quality welding of parts and fixtures in the railcar manufacturing process, ensuring safety and quality standards are met. Responsibilities

  • Fits, aligns, and clamps work to prepare for welding.
  • Performs manual or semi-automatic arc welding of railcar parts on the production line.
  • Follows job orders including Weld Procedure Sheets at the workstation.
  • Visually inspects work, repairs defective welds, and performs minor repairs.
  • Prepares metal for welding by grinding and doing joint preparations.
  • Ensures safety and housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Assists in training other welders by conducting on-the-job training.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass applicable weld assessments to perform work as a welder 2.
  • Ability to use weld gauges and computers.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints or weld drawings and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to learn to operate a forklift and overhead crane.
