Overview

We are looking for highly motivated individuals to enter EZARC's Apprenticeship Program to become certified Journeyman Ironworkers (JIW). The program involves training in various aspects of ironworking, including reading construction drawings, assisting in the erection of structural steel, and maintaining safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Follow EZARC apprenticeship program to become Journeyman Ironworker.
  • Learn how to read and interpret construction drawings.
  • Assist with layout and erection of structural steel.
  • Work with Journeyman Ironworker to verify material, measurements, and specifications.
  • Perform the erection of structural steel members alongside a crew.
  • Assist with rigging and hoisting of steel members and loading/unloading construction materials.
  • Learn cutting, welding, fitting, bolting, and fastening of steel members.
  • Install decking and perform 'high and tight' work.
  • Work at heights using fall protection equipment.
  • Utilize aerial lifts and other equipment, power tools, etc.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and perform quality checks.
  • Maintain a high standard of safety culture.
  • Learn to problem solve.
  • Train and prepare to pass AWS D1.1 and/or D1.3 welding certification test.
  • Take OSHA 10 certification after probationary period.

Requirements

  • Previous education and/or experience in structural welding, manufacturing, or related fields preferred.
  • Familiarity with steel fabrication and welding tools and procedures preferred.
  • Familiarity with shop drawings, engineering blueprints, and schematics preferred.
  • Any OSHA/Safety certifications are a plus.
  • Reliable transportation to/from work.
  • Must be able to pass criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Basic ironworking hand tools must be supplied by the applicant.
  • Personal tool boxes, gang boxes, power tools, and fall protection harnesses permitted with waiver.

Additional Information

  • Shift times vary based on season and available sunlight.
  • Outdoors working environment with adverse weather conditions.
  • Work up to a 12-hour shift conducting physical work.
  • Will climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
  • Will lift, push or pull objects up to 70 pounds.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to reach above shoulder heights and below the waist.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, or bend.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required.
