Overview

The TC Welder Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating automated welding equipment for torque converters, ensuring quality and production standards are met while maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate automated torque converter welding machines according to established work instructions.
  • Load and properly position torque converter components into the welding machine.
  • Verify machine settings and ensure proper setup before beginning the welding cycle.
  • Operate automated welding equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor the welding process to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
  • Remove completed torque converters from the machine and visually inspect welds for quality.
  • Identify welding defects or equipment issues and report them to the supervisor or Quality team.
  • Follow established work instructions, quality standards, and production procedures.
  • Perform basic machine adjustments within assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain required production rates while ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Complete required production and quality documentation accurately.
  • Keep the machine, tools, and surrounding work area clean and organized.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, including machine guarding and Lockout/Tagout requirements.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment problems, injuries, and quality concerns.
  • Participate in training, continuous improvement, and quality initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing, machine operation, or welding-related experience preferred.
  • Experience operating automated or semi-automated manufacturing equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions.
  • Ability to understand basic machine settings and operating procedures.
  • Ability to perform visual inspections and identify obvious welding or product defects.
  • Ability to use basic measuring or inspection tools as required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to stand and work at a production station for extended periods.
  • Ability to frequently reach, bend, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Ability to safely lift and handle torque converters, components, tools, and materials as required.
  • Ability to work around manufacturing equipment, welding operations, noise, heat, and moving machinery.
  • Ability to wear required PPE throughout the work shift.
