Overview
NSC Staffing has an immediate opening for Welder/Fabricators in Elmore, AL. The position requires a skilled professional who understands that great welds start with great fit-up, with welding comprising roughly 30% of the role and fabrication making up the remaining 70%.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to execute precise job layouts.
- Fit, square, align, and tack-weld structural assemblies and miscellaneous steel components.
- Prep steel orders by cutting, beveling, and shaping material using various machinery.
- Safely operate overhead bridge cranes and forklifts to move material through the plant.
- Perform basic routine troubleshooting on wire feeders and shop tools.
- Perform high-quality structural welds primarily utilizing Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) processes.
- Control heat input, travel speed, and puddle technique to prevent welding defects.
- Ensure all completed welds meet company quality control standards.
Requirements
- Practical experience in a structural steel or fabrication shop setting.
- Strong background in Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW); MIG (GMAW) or Stick (SMAW) experience is a plus.
- Solid understanding of print reading, metal layout, and assembly.
- Experience using overhead bridge cranes, forklifts, saws, or automated drill lines.
- Team-oriented work ethic with a commitment to high attendance and shop safety.
- Ability to pass an on-site practical hands-on weld and layout test.

What you'll be running
