Overview

PALA Interstate, LLC is seeking a Tank Welder who will lay out, fit, and weld together metal components for various products including pipelines, boilers, and tanks. The position requires the ability to interpret job specifications and perform welding tasks with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and follow all safety rules and set an example in Safety, Quality, and Production.
  • Weld to Section 9 of ASME Code in all positions.
  • Operate air arc-gouging and burning torch with limited grinding.
  • Use all air and electric power tools for tank repair.
  • Recognize proper fit up of weld joints and follow welding methods.
  • Exemplify proper rigging techniques.
  • Use key plates and fit up equipment to control banding and peaking.
  • Weld approximately 180 linear feet of acceptable seal pass weld using 5P 3/16" electrodes.
  • Weld approximately 250 linear feet of acceptable jet weld on 3/16" and 1/4" CS lap weld using 7024-1 electrodes.
  • Weld approximately 130 linear feet of completed 3/8" corner weld using 7/32" 7018 electrodes.
  • Complete welding tasks with no more than 30 minutes of pickup work per day.
  • Achieve an acceptable RT rate of 95% or higher.
  • Work at elevations using vertical ladders and tank scaffolds.
  • Perform work under breathing air conditions with required respirator.
  • Willingness to perform other tank duties as needed.
  • Work in confined spaces.
  • Operate a Man-Lift.
