Overview

Arizona Public Service generates clean, reliable and affordable energy for 2.7 million Arizonans. The Welder Journeyman supports the safe and efficient production of electric energy by performing certified and structural welds on power plant equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform certified welds and structural welds on equipment such as boilers, boiler tubes, and piping systems.
  • Conduct mechanical maintenance and repair of power plant equipment.
  • Write and review work scope and hazard/risk assessments.
  • Read work orders, technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and safety standards.
  • Operate hand, power, and pneumatic tools safely.
  • Perform fit-up, root pass, and final welds in various positions.
  • Examine work pieces for defects and ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Identify metals and assess appropriate welding procedures.
  • Cut pipe and metal materials to specifications.
  • Modify, manufacture, or fabricate items to improve plant function.

Requirements

  • Must qualify as a Welder Journeyman.
  • Must complete Welder Apprenticeship Program.
  • Pass the mechanical aptitude test (MASS).
  • Successfully pass Written and Hands-on Test.
  • Maintain certification for ASME boiler and pressure vessel code.
  • Basic computer skills knowledge.

Additional Information

  • Reasonable and necessary overtime will be required.
  • Shift work may be required.
