Overview

The Electro Mechanical Technician position is based in the Hammond field office in Indiana, focusing on maintaining, repairing, testing, and assisting in the installation of various electrical and mechanical equipment. Candidates must reside within 45 minutes of the office and are expected to work weekdays, with potential weekend and holiday shifts as part of an on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with DOT and OSHA health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Tests and inspects assigned equipment by monitoring performance.
  • Maintains assigned mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment.
  • Compiles records and analyzes operating data on equipment.
  • Maintains equipment spare parts inventory and operates technicians’ tools and assigned vehicle.
  • Recommends equipment design changes and suggests procedures for efficient use.
  • Contacts and confers with factory technical representatives.
  • Installs non-contract equipment additions and modifications.
  • Works with third party contractors on R/W encroachments.
  • Acts as company inspector on construction and maintenance projects.
  • Assists with on-the-job training of new technicians.
  • Performs maintenance associated with the upkeep of pipeline right-of-way and facilities.

Requirements

  • An Associate’s degree in electronics/electrical, instrumentation or a related technical field or equivalent experience is required.
  • Experience as an operations/maintenance technician or in electronics and mechanics is preferred.
  • Ability to engage in safe behavior and understand pipeline and workplace safety principles.
  • Knowledge of emergency and safety procedures, and applicable DOT, EPA, FERC, DHS and OSHA requirements.
  • Knowledge of system operation, pipeline and facility layout, and equipment capability.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision to accomplish goals.
  • Knowledge of math, general science, hydraulics, and strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Ability to think logically and remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to safely drive and maneuver company vehicles.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze data and figures.
  • Ability to test, setup, troubleshoot, and maintain a variety of electronic/electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to use various tools in the performance of duties.
  • Ability to utilize computer hardware and software to manage company information.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and perform duties with little guidance.
  • Ability to effectively work and cooperate with supervisors, co-workers, and vendors.

  • Work schedule is Monday - Friday with weekends and holidays as part of an on-call schedule rotation.
