Overview

The Mechanical Journeyman supports mechanical service and retrofit work by performing sheet metal modifications, mechanical piping tasks, and ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols. This role requires high-quality workmanship in various environments including mechanical rooms and active job sites.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sheet metal modification and installation to support mechanical equipment and ducting interfaces.
  • Remove and replace pipe gaskets; prepare flange faces, align flanges, and verify proper fit-up.
  • Complete chiller valve replacements including isolation support and operational checks.
  • Install flanged pipe couplings and torque to specification using appropriate tools.
  • Execute Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to ensure safety.
  • Read and work from job documentation to complete tasks correctly.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow all safety policies.
  • Communicate job status and material needs to the supervisor.
  • Use and maintain tools and equipment properly.
  • Support troubleshooting and basic mechanical service tasks.
