Overview

At Blue Origin, we are developing reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems. The Pipe Welder II role involves performing manual GTAW welding operations on aerospace-grade materials in an early-phase manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manual GTAW (TIG) welding operations on aerospace components under supervision.
  • Prepare weld joints by cleaning, fitting, tacking, and positioning parts.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols.
  • Conduct visual self-inspection of completed welds against workmanship standards.
  • Set up and maintain GTAW welding equipment according to specifications.
  • Use hand tools and precision measuring equipment to verify dimensions and weld profiles.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Assist senior welders with complex weld assemblies and post-weld operations.
  • Participate in weld practice, qualification testing, and skills development activities.
  • Support material handling and shop operations.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional-level welding experience in an industrial environment.
  • Hands-on pipe and tube welding experience with carbon steel and/or stainless.
  • Experience performing welds on components subject to pressure loads.
  • Demonstrated experience with NDT-quality welds inspected by various methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret welding drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols.
  • Experience working to welding codes/standards and passing code-quality weld tests.
  • Familiarity with basic inspection and measuring tools.
  • Proven track record of working safely in high-consequence environments.
  • Ability to work in a shop environment, including standing for extended periods.
  • U.S. person status as required by applicable regulations.
