Overview

At Blue Origin, we are developing reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems. The Pipe Welder III will play a hands-on role in building and operating complex test infrastructure, ensuring test readiness and success in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding processes on aluminum, steel, and alloy parts to required tolerances.
  • Determine layouts and weld parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical processes.
  • Join metal parts to form a permanent bond using specialized equipment.
  • Set up and operate large, motion-controlled machines for friction stir welding.
  • Perform periodic maintenance on machines with complex systems.
  • Accurately use precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 7+ years of experience GTAW welding in a manufacturing production environment.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite applications.
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Must be able to author/develop weld schedules that meet AWS D17.1 Class A inspection requirements.
  • Familiar with all types of Non-Destructive testing and quality policies.
  • Experience in using automated welding equipment.
  • Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50lbs.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S.

  • Relocation provided.
  • Work Schedule: 16 days on / 12 days off rotational schedule.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shift days is required.
