How this job compares in Commerce City, CO

Pay in context

At roughly $55/hr, this posting sits about 97% above the $28/hr median for welding jobs across Colorado — toward the top of a $24–$33/hr middle band drawn from 71 postings with published pay. Put another way, it pays more than about 99% of the comparable postings we have wage data for. Pay that far above local median usually comes attached to something: a harder cert requirement, travel, night shift, or overtime that isn't really optional. Worth establishing which before you accept.

The local market in Commerce City, CO

Commerce City, CO currently has 4 other active welding openings besides this one, spread across 2 employers. None of them were added in the last week, so this is a slower-moving market. Across Colorado as a whole we're tracking 91 other active welding openings from 58 employers. That's enough local activity to be worth comparing two or three offers before committing. Browse every welding job in Commerce City, or widen the search to Colorado.

The most active employers in Colorado at the moment, by number of open welding reqs, are Welding Shop in Denver, CO (10), RK Industries (5), and Honeywell Technologies (4). Volume like that usually means either a genuine expansion or a staffing agency working several client sites — worth knowing which before you apply.

Within Colorado, the best-paying metros we track by median hourly rate are Arvada at $30/hr and Denver at $29/hr. If you can relocate or commute, that spread is worth factoring in.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for Stick. Stick (SMAW) burns a flux-coated consumable rod and needs no shielding gas, so it works in wind, rain, and on dirty or rusted steel. That tolerance for bad conditions keeps it the default for field, structural, and repair work.

Certifications this posting mentions

  • 6Ga pipe test welded on a joint fixed at a 45-degree incline. Because the torch has to travel through flat, vertical, and overhead angles in a single pass, passing 6G qualifies you for every position on pipe — which is why it is the ticket that separates pipe welders from plate welders on pay.

Read straight from this posting's text. Confirm the exact qualification the employer wants before you test — requirements vary by shop even under the same code.
