Overview

The 1st Class Structural Welder at Bollinger in Pascagoula, MS is responsible for welding structural metal components according to blueprints and instructions. This role requires a skilled individual capable of performing high-quality welds with minimal rework.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain the appropriate tools needed for a particular job and set up equipment.
  • Bind together structural metal components that have been pre-assembled and tacked into place.
  • Perform good, cosmetic sound welds.
  • Examine work and chip off excess weld, slag, and splatter with appropriate tools.
  • Leave little to no rework when job is complete.
  • Troubleshoot equipment.
  • Gouge to remove a member, make a seam sound, or remove weld reinforcement.

Requirements

  • Six (6) months to one (1) year of Marine experience in welding is required.
  • Capable of helping to supervise a crew of welders.
  • Certified in 3G and 4G in at least 3 or more welding disciplines preferred.
  • Able to make full penetration welds that will pass NDE Testing.
  • Able to lay out track marks.
  • Able to identify most commonly used welding symbols.
  • Able to gouge.
