At Sabre Industries, we connect and power America’s communities with world-class utility and telecom solutions. The Welder Trainee position involves performing welding tasks under supervision while adhering to safety standards and production specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Manually positions pole assembly in pole rollers for welding.
  • Reads and interprets drawings and specifications for welding tasks.
  • Adjusts welding machines to achieve desired results.
  • Uses oxy-fuel torch to pre-heat parts for welding.
  • Welds small components or assemblies using GMAC or FCAW processes.
  • Tack welds and/or finish welds to required production levels.
  • Wears protective equipment while performing welding tasks.
  • Cleans welded areas using various tools.
  • Drills holes on pole assembly as required by specifications.
  • Inspects work to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
  • Uses overhead cranes to transport and move materials.
  • Measures weld size using a weld gauge.
  • Reads and interprets work orders and production schedules.
  • Corrects labor reporting in the MES system.
  • Assists fitter in assembling pole assembly when needed.
  • Operates band saw for cutting tubular shafts according to specifications.
  • Maintains a clean work area.
  • Produces quality work in a timely manner.
  • Works safely according to OSHA standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • AWS Certification required for specific welding operations.
  • Must have passed Welder Trainee certification and be AWS certified in MIG welding.
  • Basic shop mathematical aptitude required.
  • Proficient in reading complex prints and specifications.
  • Must be able to read and write in English.
  • Must possess adequate dexterity and stamina for production.
  • Knowledge of safety issues related to operations.
  • Required PPE includes safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection.
  • Must be able to stand for 100% of scheduled shift.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

What you'll be running
