Overview

BBA is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to join their growing U.S. team, where the engineer will work on projects in various sectors including mining, industrial, energy, renewable power, and chemicals. This position offers an opportunity to build technical expertise in civil infrastructure and structural design while contributing to projects from concept development through detailed engineering and construction support.

Responsibilities

  • Support the civil and structural design of industrial and infrastructure projects from preliminary studies through detailed engineering.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, design memoranda, and construction documentation.
  • Assist with the design of civil infrastructure systems including site development, drainage, utility layouts, and access infrastructure.
  • Support the structural design of concrete foundations, steel and reinforced concrete structures, equipment support structures, pipe racks, platforms, and industrial structural systems.
  • Assist in structural analysis and preparation of design calculations in accordance with applicable U.S. codes and standards.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, process, geotechnical, and environmental disciplines.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs, technical specifications, material requisitions, and construction packages.
  • Review and coordinate engineering deliverables prepared by designers and drafters.
  • Participate in project planning, scheduling, cost estimating, and technical coordination.
  • Support construction activities through site visits, field reviews, and responding to technical queries.
  • Participate in client meetings and contribute to technical discussions.
  • Contribute to engineering quality, continuous improvement, and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural focus, or Structural Engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation or eligibility for registration in the applicable U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in civil and/or structural engineering.
  • Experience in industrial, mining, infrastructure, energy, or related sectors is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with structural design codes and engineering standards applicable in North America.
  • Experience with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and structural analysis software (SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, STAAD, or similar).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Availability for occasional travel to project sites.
