Overview

The Welder position involves performing various types of welding on structural apparatus and metal products. The role requires interpreting blueprints and specifications, maintaining welding equipment, and ensuring quality through various testing methods.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electric arc, inert gas, and heliarc welding in various positions.
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics for welding processes.
  • Perform specialized complex TIG welds by hand.
  • Conduct structural welds and maintain welding equipment.
  • Work towards Dakota welder certification training.
  • Plan work and select proper tools within precise limits.
  • Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
  • Compare and see differences in size, shape, and form of objects.
  • Work with materials including stainless steel, carbon, and aluminum.
  • Set up and calibrate power supply with the correct welding program.
  • Weld metal components of products using arc and arc gas welding equipment.
  • Understand weld logs and perform complex welding re-work.
  • Manipulate parts to match print and dimensional specifications.
  • Complete parts to acceptable standards ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and follow safety regulations.
  • Join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable materials.
  • Work with fixturing and weld setup parameters.
  • Use conventional and precision measuring instruments.
  • May conduct process and peer inspection.
  • May perform limited E/M assembly.
  • Possess expert knowledge of wire and filler materials for various alloys.
