Overview

The Millwright position at West Fraser involves a variety of technical tasks related to the maintenance and repair of industrial equipment, including diagnosing malfunctions and performing preventive maintenance. Responsibilities

  • Diagnose causes of malfunctions by sight, sound, or actions of machinery and equipment.
  • Start, observe, operate, or otherwise activate equipment to detect or verify correction of malfunction.
  • Inspect, adjust, clean, or lubricate equipment as preventive maintenance.
  • Tear down, replace, repair, install, and assemble equipment, parts, components, and accessories.
  • Adjust mechanisms such as feed, speed, power input, or output.
  • Operate various mechanical and electronic test equipment.
  • Repair and maintain industrial equipment including conveying systems and major machine centers.
  • Read and understand drawings and printed instructions.
  • Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Align machines and equipment using various tools.
  • Assemble and install equipment using hand tools and power tools.
  • Replace defective parts of machines or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
  • Dismantle machines using hand tools.
  • Remain current in technical changes or equipment designs by attending classes as needed.
  • Work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and overtime as scheduled or required.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings, and pumps.
  • Experience troubleshooting issues with bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, and conveyors.
  • Experience reading blueprints.
  • Two years or more of experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy equipment.
  • Experience with fabrication, cutting with a torch, and welding with an arc welder.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
