Overview

The Millwright position at West Fraser involves a variety of technical tasks related to the maintenance and repair of industrial equipment. The role requires expertise in diagnosing malfunctions, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring the safe operation of machinery in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose causes of malfunctions using technical electronic diagnostics and precision instruments.
  • Start and operate equipment to detect or verify corrections of malfunctions.
  • Inspect, adjust, clean, or lubricate equipment as preventive maintenance.
  • Dismantle, replace, repair, install, and assemble equipment and parts.
  • Adjust mechanisms such as feed, speed, and power input/output.
  • Operate various mechanical and electronic test equipment.
  • Repair and maintain industrial equipment including conveying systems and major machine centers.
  • Read and understand drawings and printed instructions.
  • Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Align machines and equipment using various tools.
  • Assemble and install equipment using hand and power tools.
  • Replace defective parts and adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
  • Dismantle machines using hand tools.
  • Remain current in technical changes by attending classes as needed.
  • Work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.
  • Adhere to safety rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Two years or more of experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy equipment.
  • Experience with precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings, and pumps.
  • Experience troubleshooting issues with bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, and conveyors.
  • Experience reading blueprints.
  • Experience with fabrication, cutting with a torch, and welding with an arc welder.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
