The Millwright position involves a variety of technical and mechanical tasks, including diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining industrial equipment. West Fraser, a leading wood products company, emphasizes safety, career development, and internal promotions.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose causes of malfunctions using technical electronic diagnostics and precision instruments.
  • Start and operate equipment to verify corrections of malfunctions.
  • Inspect, adjust, clean, or lubricate equipment as preventive maintenance.
  • Tear down, replace, repair, install, and assemble equipment and components.
  • Adjust mechanisms such as feed, speed, and power input/output.
  • Operate mechanical and electronic test equipment.
  • Repair and maintain industrial equipment including conveying systems and major machine centers.
  • Read and understand drawings and printed instructions.
  • Move machinery using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Align machines using various tools and instruments.
  • Assemble and install equipment using hand and power tools.
  • Layout mounting holes and drill holes with power drills.
  • Replace defective parts and adjust clearances and alignments.
  • Dismantle machines using hand tools.
  • Remain current in technical changes by attending classes.
  • Work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.
  • Adhere to safety rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Two or more years of experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy equipment.
  • Experience with precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings, and pumps.
  • Experience troubleshooting issues with bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, and conveyors.
  • Experience reading blueprints.
  • Experience with fabrication, cutting with a torch, and welding with an arc welder.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
