Overview

The Welder/Pipe Fitter/Machine Builder position involves measuring, cutting, and welding various materials, while maintaining a clean work area. Candidates should have experience in MIG and TIG welding and be able to read mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Measure, cut, thread pipe; both stainless steel and PVC.
  • Measure, cut, weld steel.
  • Perform grinding, deburring, drilling & tapping, and sawing.
  • Follow instructions and maintain a clean work area.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year MIG and TIG welding experience in a shop environment.
  • Welding certificate from an accredited program.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to operate industrial hand and power tools.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions.
  • Proficient in math.
  • Problem solving skills and decision making ability.
  • Punctual, meticulous and reliable.
  • Courteous manners with fellow employees and customers.
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Additional Information

  • Continuous standing, bending, and kneeling on concrete floor for most of the work day.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 10 lbs. constantly, 11 to 25 lbs. frequently, and 26 to 50 lbs. occasionally during the workday.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
