Job Description

Overview

As a Welder II at G&W Electric, you will perform a variety of welding tasks involving moderate to advanced complexity, ensuring high-quality assembly and maintenance of welding equipment. Responsibilities

  • Assemble, align, square up, fit, stiffen and tack weld subassemblies and assemblies using various tools and equipment.
  • Fit parts using torch or carbon arc or hand grinding equipment for alignment and assembly.
  • Set up and regulate pressure for oxyacetylene torch.
  • Select electrode size and type, tips and welding rod or wire as required.
  • Regulate gas for proper atmospheric control, current and voltage for proper penetration and fusing of metals.
  • Check and straighten gasket surfaces and grind excess weld from finished work.
  • Lay out and secure work involving heavy parts and assemblies.
  • Perform moderate to advanced Mig/Tig Welding in various positions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance procedures as needed.
  • Provide personal tools as required.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies effectively.
  • Contribute to team effort by training others in welding tasks.
  • Inspect all work to ensure it meets requirements before passing it on.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality forms.
  • Train others on proper welding procedures and techniques.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
  • At least one year of formal welding training or equivalent experience.
  • Three years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to safely use small hand and power tools, measuring tools, air tools, and welding equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret Drawings and Bills of Material.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to perform Mig and Tig welding in various positions.
