Overview

We are a well-established small metal fabrication and manufacturing company located in North San Diego County, seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Fabrication / Shop Operations & Sales professional to combine hands-on manufacturing work with sales and business development.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding and metal fabrication.
  • Operate and assist with press brake operations.
  • Operate and assist with punch press operations.
  • Perform sheet metal bending, forming, cutting, fitting, and assembly.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
  • Measure and inspect fabricated parts.
  • Assist with machine setup and production.
  • Troubleshoot fabrication and production issues.
  • Perform grinding, deburring, finishing, and other sheet metal shop duties.
  • Help maintain production schedules and quality.
  • Assist other employees when the shop becomes busy.
  • Identify and develop new customers.
  • Prospect for new manufacturing and fabrication opportunities.
  • Contact potential customers by phone and email.
  • Develop relationships with purchasing managers, engineers, and manufacturing companies.
  • Visit customers and prospective customers when appropriate.
  • Follow up on leads and quotations.
  • Promote our metal fabrication and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Develop new accounts and repeat business.
  • Work with customers to understand their fabrication requirements.
  • Coordinate with the shop to determine manufacturing capabilities and requirements.
  • Help prepare and follow up on quotations.
  • Maintain a sales pipeline.
  • Research new industries and potential customers.
  • Participate in marketing initiatives and customer outreach.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on sheet metal fabrication experience.
  • Welding experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawings.
  • Understanding of sheet metal bending, forming, fitting, and assembly.
  • Ability to perform hands-on shop work.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
