Overview

Ferrero N.A. is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic responsible for the mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair of plant equipment, including ovens and packaging equipment. The role requires planned and preventive maintenance and is located in Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and repairs packaging, baking, and processing equipment.
  • Diagnoses reasons for mechanical failures and understands basic electricity principles.
  • Provides basic maintenance services to the building, including the building structure.
  • Repairs pneumatic, mechanical drive, and electrical components.
  • Safely operates shop equipment including hydraulic presses, Bridgeport, lathes, band saws, and hand-operated power tools.
  • Preferred skills include MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
  • Operates forklifts and aerial lifts.
  • Understands plant utilities equipment including chillers, HVAC, and air compressors.
  • Food processing experience is preferred.
  • Performs basic electrical troubleshooting including fuses, motors, circuit breakers, and plant lighting.
  • Experience with CMMS or ERP systems is preferred, with SAP experience preferred.
  • Possesses basic computing skills.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience or a combination of 3 years' experience and education.
  • At least 1 year of relevant maintenance experience.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG, TIG, and Stick work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
