Overview

We are looking for an Automotive Mechanic/Technician to handle commissioning, field modifications, troubleshooting, and repairs for the Railcar division. This position requires mechanical and electrical knowledge and involves both onsite and remote support.

Responsibilities

  • Handle commissioning of train cars for service.
  • Perform field modifications and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures.
  • Run tests and replace mechanical/electrical parts.
  • Fix miswiring and perform software updates.
  • Document failures, repairs, and modifications in the database.
  • Support warranty operations for locomotives and coaches.
  • Use diagnostic software to assess onboard systems.
  • Identify root causes of issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate service operations and resolve product issues.
  • Support customers remotely and on-site.
  • Generate sales leads for service offers.
  • Adhere to defined processes and regulations.
  • Handle parts returns and repairs.
  • Operate shop machinery and hand tools.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; vocational training or practical experience preferred.
  • Basic mechanical/electrical knowledge.
  • Ability to use tools and a multimeter.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, maintenance, repair, and FMI documents.

  • Pay Rate: $30 - $32/Hr
  • Duration: 12 Months
  • Location: Chicago, IL (Onsite - approximately 15% travel)
  • Shift: 6 AM to 2:30 PM
