Overview

Johnson Matthey is a global leader in sustainable technologies specializing in catalysis, precious metal products, chemicals, and process technology. The Electrical Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and inspecting equipment while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all Johnson Matthey Hazardous Waste procedures and local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Receive wiring diagrams, specifications, and instructions for scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection work.
  • Analyze drawings and wiring diagrams to locate circuits and determine material or replacement needs.
  • Plan details or working procedures for job completion.
  • Consider safety precautions and proper isolation of circuits to minimize interference to operations.
  • Determine necessary tools and materials.
  • Perform work requiring knowledge of electrical principles, wiring specifications, and equipment operation.
  • Locate sources of trouble in electrical equipment by tracing and testing circuits.
  • Use PLC interface to diagnose equipment-related problems.
  • Dismantle, inspect, repair, adjust, or replace faulty parts and wiring on various electrical equipment.
  • Reassemble, test, and adjust equipment for safe operation.
  • Perform work on 'hot lines' as required.
  • Replace coils, resistors, rheostats, relays, and adjust contractors.
  • Reconnect terminal leads, panel boards, and distribution feeders.
  • Shunt out defective coils in emergencies to restore equipment operation.
  • Change DC motor characteristics by shunting series coils.
  • Install conduit, fittings, switches, controls, and fixtures for new installations or replacements.
  • Make required splices and connector joints.
  • Adjust new equipment for proper operating characteristics.
  • Perform repairs and adjustments to state-of-the-art electrical components.

Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • Electrical trade school certification
  • Ability to operate forklifts, aerial scissor lifts, and boom lifts
