Overview

This position operates welding equipment and performs basic fabrication tasks for production parts with support from the lead or trainer.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates various welding equipment with moderate supervision while using required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Performs manual wire feed (MIG) welding.
• Performs manual Heliarc (TIG) welding.
• Conducts spot welding.
• Operates automated MIG/TIG machines.
• Handles parts finishing.
• Utilizes material handling equipment.
• Produces and inspects production parts to a blueprint, operational note, and/or standard work instruction.
• Completes all documentation required to comply with policies and procedures.
• Achieves and maintains established safety, quality, and productivity standards.
• Performs routine total preventative maintenance including lubrication and cleaning on assigned equipment.
• Safely and efficiently routes parts using material handling equipment.
• Maintains a neat and organized workstation and effective communication within a multi-shift organization.
• Actively engages in department continuous improvement efforts and lean manufacturing initiatives.

Requirements

• Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Must possess basic to moderate computer skills.
• Demonstrated ability to perform math calculations with an understanding of decimal/fraction equivalence.
• Able to interpret job-related blueprints and work instructions.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively inspect assigned work using precision measuring equipment.
• Completed proper material handling testing requirements.
• Must be able to identify relative tools and material types.
• Must be able to troubleshoot problems when necessary.
• Demonstrated ability to manage time and resources effectively.
• Generally requires a minimum of one year of relevant welding experience.
