Overview

The Electrician Mechanical position involves maintaining electrical equipment on various rail vehicles, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and promoting safe work practices. This is a Union position with starting pay rates that may vary based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain electrical equipment on diesel/electric locomotives, self-propelled coaches, and passenger railcars.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety rules and regulations.
  • Promote safe work practices and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a Journeyman Electrician or have a minimum of four years of experience working on similar equipment.
  • Must be able to read schematic drawings.
  • Must be available to work all shifts and at various locations in the six county metropolitan area.
  • Candidates with documented attendance or performance issues will not be considered.

Additional Information

  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Railroad Retirement Tax Act.
  • Metra prohibits the use or possession of marijuana for preemployment screening purposes and while on duty.
