Overview

Synthomer is a leading supplier of high-performance polymers and ingredients, operating globally with approximately 3,900 employees. The Pipefitter/Welder position at the Jefferson Site involves performing various job functions safely and effectively in a chemical manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow plant safety rules including lockout/tagout, hot work, confined space, and chemical-handling procedures.
• Use steam and pipefitting hand tools for industrial welded and screwed pipe fabrication.
• Assemble plastic, fiberglass, and steel pipe assemblies.
• Perform quality welds on ASME B31.3 Process Piping and qualify to site’s Section IX Welding Procedure Specifications.
• Conduct solder and brazing operations for copper and steel tube piping systems.
• Disassemble, repair, rebuild, and reassemble valve assemblies and Steam Traps.
• Read and interpret piping schematics and construction drawings.
• Maintain accurate records and good housekeeping in work areas.
• Demonstrate strong initiative and problem-solving skills.
• Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervision.
• Operate cranes, rigging, and forklifts as needed.

Requirements

• Valid PA Driver's License.
• Must be 18 years of age and authorized to work in the United States.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Journeyman Papers or equivalent education.
• Favorable (clear) Background Check.
• Ability to wear a respirator and be clean-shaven.
• Willingness to work indoors and outdoors regardless of weather.
• Must wear required PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots.
• Ability to lift 60 lbs. regularly.
• Experience operating a forklift.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating procedures.
• Ability to remain active for long periods, including frequent stair climbing and bending.
• Preferred experience in a chemical manufacturing environment or similar process industry.
