Overview

Covestro is a company that refines chemical material solutions with innovative products. The Senior Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will provide technical knowledge to the Maintenance Execution organization and the Technical Asset Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily maintenance activities and ensure compliance with safety and engineering standards.
  • Ensure timely job completion as agreed in RBWS and monitor area backlog, notifications, and work orders in SAP.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in specific asset types or maintenance methodologies.
  • Evaluate equipment failures and provide information to Asset Engineers for defect elimination activities.
  • Take corrective actions when failures are caused by maintenance processes.
  • Responsible for monthly reporting of major jobs and repairs, costs, achievements, and safety incidents.
  • Collaborate closely with Asset Engineers to improve asset performance.
  • Collaborate with Asset Engineers in Asset Strategy optimization.
  • Make decisions with designated assignments and produce anticipated results with supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related degree with at least 6 years’ experience, or Master’s with at least 4 years’ experience.
  • Eligibility to apply for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Sound knowledge of rotating and static equipment used in chemical processing.
  • Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Understanding of general Maintenance Procedures/Work processes.
  • Knowledge of repair methods and techniques, and best practices.
  • Knowledgeable in work planning and management for work involving toxic chemicals.
  • Ability to ensure application and compliance with HSEQ policies and procedures.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead ad hoc teams and manage project level maintenance activities.
