Overview

Covestro is a company that refines chemical material solutions with innovative products. The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer IV ensures maintenance execution efficiency and provides technical support to the Maintenance Execution organization and Asset Owners.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily maintenance activities and ensure compliance with safety and engineering standards.
  • Ensure timely job completion and monitor area backlog, notifications, and work orders in SAP.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for equipment and repair methods, supporting planning and maintenance execution.
  • Evaluate equipment failures and provide information to Asset Engineers for defect elimination activities.
  • Report monthly on major jobs, repairs, costs, achievements, and safety incidents.
  • Collaborate closely with Asset Engineers to improve asset performance and optimize Asset Strategy.
  • Make decisions on designated assignments and produce anticipated results with supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related degree with at least 3 years’ experience, or Master’s with at least 2 years’ experience.
  • Eligibility to apply for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Trained (preferred).
  • Maturing knowledge of rotating and static equipment used in chemical processing.
  • Maturing analytical and problem-solving skills with awareness of troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Understanding of general Maintenance Procedures and Work processes.
  • Working knowledge of repair methods and techniques, including vessel and pipe repair.
  • Developing skills in work planning and management for work involving industrial chemicals.
  • Ability to ensure application and compliance with HSEQ policies and procedures.
  • Good oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
