Overview

The Piping Stress Engineer 1 (Entry-Level) position at Sargent & Lundy involves learning the practical application of engineering principles in the Piping Engineering & Analysis Discipline, focusing on evaluations for piping systems in accordance with various ASME codes. The role supports engineering design projects and aims to develop personal capabilities while contributing to the future of clean, carbon-free energy.

Responsibilities

  • Under supervision, gathers data and prepares simple calculations.
  • Under supervision, prepares simple system/structural designs.
  • Gathers data for specifications.
  • Gathers data and prepares simple bid tabulations.
  • Gathers data for reports/studies.
  • Communicates technical information and results clearly.
  • Gains familiarity with accepted standards and processes.
  • Completes assignments within allocated time frames.
  • Develops personal capabilities to grow professionally.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master's of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, or Structural/Civil Engineering with an emphasis in solid mechanics, structural analysis, theory of elasticity, metallurgy, and finite element analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program is valued but not required.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and designation as an Engineer in Training is valued but not required.
  • Previous, related internship or co-op experience is valued but not required.
  • Familiarity with AutoPIPE and PIPESTRESS software is valued but not required.
