Overview

Austin Industrial is a leading provider of maintenance, construction, and soft craft services to industrial companies across the U.S. The Boilermaker position involves constructing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing stationary steam boilers and boiler house auxiliaries.

Responsibilities

  • Examine boilers and pressure vessels to locate defects for repair.
  • Bolt or arc weld pressure vessel structures and parts together.
  • Inspect assembled vessels or components to locate defects.
  • Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts using various tools.
  • Attach rigging and signal crane operators to lift heavy parts.
  • Bell, bead, or weld pressure vessel tube ends for leakproof joints.
  • Lay out heavy metal and mark bending and cutting lines.
  • Install components in drums of water tube boilers using hand tools.
  • Study blueprints to determine parts' locations and dimensions.
  • Straighten or reshape bent pressure vessel plates or parts.
  • Shape seams and joints of pressure vessel sections for fit.
  • Position and align structural parts to boiler frames following blueprints.
  • Locate and mark reference points on boiler foundations.
  • Shape or fabricate parts to adapt pressure vessels using heavy machinery.
  • Clean pressure vessel equipment using scrapers and solvents.
  • Install refractory bricks in fireboxes of pressure vessels.
  • Assemble large vessels in a fabrication shop prior to installation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • No minimum education requirements.
  • NCCER Boilermaker certification required.
  • Valid Driver’s License and TWIC Card required.
  • 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience required.
