Overview

WSP is seeking an Entry Level Substation Structural Engineer for their Duluth, GA office, with consideration for locations in Oradell, NJ, and Baton Rouge, LA. The role involves supporting the Power & Energy Civil Structural Substation Team in delivering structural engineering solutions for substation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural engineering work supporting electrical substation projects.
  • Prepare detailed structural calculations and design criteria to meet client standards.
  • Create engineering drawing markups for drafting that align with design calculations.
  • Assist with developing construction specifications and cost estimates.
  • Provide entry-level technical assistance and cross-disciplinary coordination.
  • Utilize structural analysis and finite element modeling tools.
  • Maintain quality control standards and conduct QA/QC reviews of deliverables.
  • Support project structural leads with reporting requirements.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
  • Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
  • Familiarity with design/build processes and relevant construction laws.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing and office software.
  • Familiarity with discipline-specific design software.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety.
